CONFOCAL MICROSCOPY

EQUIPMENT

Zeiss LSM 710 Confocal Microscope

Enables surface topography measurements and fluorescence studies. The excitation system includes the following lasers:

diode laser, 405 nm,

argon laser, 458, 488 and 514 nm,

HeNe 543 nm and HeNe 633 nm.

Observation is carried out in the 400-800 nm range.

The system allows the optical signal to be routed externally and a spectrometer to be connected via optical fiber, e.g., the BlackComet spectrometer by StellarNet or the QE65000 by Ocean Optics. The microscope is also equipped with an HXP 120 mercury lamp for fluorescence measurements and a halogen lamp for transmitted-light and reflected-light observations.

The system features a motorized stage with a travel range of 130×85 mm, a maximum load capacity of 9 kg, and a Z-axis positioning accuracy of 10 nm.

The microscope is equipped with objectives designed for bright-field and dark-field observation, Nomarski differential interference contrast (DIC), and circularly polarized light C-DIC:

EC Epiplan-Neofluar 5×/0.13 HD DIC, working distance 14.5 mm,

EC Epiplan-Neofluar 10×/0.25 HD DIC, working distance 9.0 mm,

EC Epiplan-Neofluar 20×/0.50 HD DIC, working distance 2.2 mm,

EC Epiplan-Neofluar 50×/0.80 HD DIC, working distance 0.6 mm,

EC Epiplan-Neofluar 100×/0.90 HD DIC, working distance 0.28 mm,

EC Plan-Neofluar 40×/1.30 Oil DIC, working distance 0.21 mm.

The microscope is additionally equipped with an interferometer for thickness measurements and an MRc5 camera.
